While I love a good smelling candle that fills my home with the scents of the Season, it is so difficult to find one that doesn’t contain synthetic scents. So my favorite go to all natural simmering potpourri is the perfect solution.
A pot of this simmering on the stove will fill your entire home with the most aromatic, nostalgic Christmasy scent imaginable. And the best part? One batch will last days.
I like to make a large pot of this and so the recipe below is based on that. You could certainly halve this.
2 1/2 Cups Water
2 Cups Apple Cider (My favorite is the Trader Joe’s Spiced Apple Cider, but plain works just as well)
1 12 oz Bag Fresh Cranberries
1 Orange, Sliced Thick
1 Lime, Sliced Thick
1 Lemon, Sliced Thick
3-4 Cinnamon Sticks
5 Bay Leaves
2 Sprigs Fresh Rosemary
1 T Whole Cloves
Add all ingredients to pot and simmer on low. As the liquid cooks down, you will need to add more water/cider accordingly.
As I write this post, my nostrils are filled with most amazing aromas and I sure wish you could sniff this screen and get a whiff. But since that isn’t possible, go ahead; get your pen and paper and jot these ingredients down on grocery list!
Here’s a shot of how pretty it is even after it’s been simmering for hours. 🙂
Store with lid on when not simmering or in fridge for longer preservation. Will last for 3-4 days, depending on how long you simmer.
Until Next Time,
